Vocal Lessons
My classes are for anyone who wants to find their voice, to develop and strengthen it in order to sing more confidently and authentically. We will work together for as long as you need, to inspire confidence in yourself and to project it out to others, because singing is all about confidence.
On day one we’ll talk about what kind of experience the student has and what their goals are. I’ll figure out what range their voice is, what range they have, and then figure out what we need to work on to accomplish their goals. After that we start with breathing techniques and go from there.
Really the end result is I want people to be singing, to have a repertoire and a song book so when the opportunity comes up they can sing easily and effectively. I mean essentially a singer is a collector of songs. So I encourage all of my students to have a song book and build a repertoire, and in order for a student to build a repertoire they have to figure out what kind of voice they have. Do they sing better in a higher register or lower register? In soprano, alto or baritone? And which songs fit their voice, and which songs they connect to emotionally so they can deliver a song authentically.
Singing isn’t just about performing for others, the skill is fundamental to helping us express ourselves, not just artistically but in everyday life for our one on one conversations and in groups.
